David Benkeser, PhD MPH

CPS Core Co-Director

David Benkeser, PhD MPH is a Co-Director of the Clinical and Population Sciences (CPS) core of the TRAC, as well as an Assistant Professor in the Rollins School of Public Health (Biostatistics and Bioinformatics). His research has focused on developing statistical methods that support infectious disease research. This methodology has been applied across a number of disease areas including tuberculosis, HIV, COVID-19, dengue, and malaria. A particular focus of David’s research is the combination of machine learning and causal inference methodologies that can be used to study vaccine correlates of protection and to study whether and to what extent vaccine efficacy depends on genotypic and phenotypic characteristics of the infecting pathogen. He is an Associate Director of the Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Core of the Emory Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) and is Director of Data Science Initiatives in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics.
